On August 29th 2010 the first presentation of the ECMOH took place, with approx 80 relatives of Zachariah C. Pearson
( 1821-1891) in attendance , the medal was presented to his surviving family.
The family took a great deal of interest in the ceremony and the presentation was the climax of a large scale family
gathering and celebration that included a carnival and tree planting ceremony in the city of Hull. The carnival attracted
approx 2000-3000 people and the Lord Mayor and other local government figures were in attendance. members Chris & Michael
Dowling were unable to attend due to a long standing prior engagement and Peter Rossi was unable to attend due to being injured
in his native Italy shortly before he was due to travel.
